Montpelier Residents Frustrated Over Road Conditions

In March, a Montpelier resident submitted a petition to the City Council signed by 40 residents of the Hubbard Park Drive area. The petition requested that the city move the dates of repairing roads in their area to an earlier time. At least one other resident spoke in favor of the petition. Williston Selecboard Denies Liquor Licenses To Monty’s And Jiffy Mart

Last week in Williston, the select board voted not to approve liquor licenses to Monty’s Old Brick Tavern, due to an incomplete application, and to the Colonial Deli-Mart, also known as the Jiffy Mart on Essex Road, due to a violation that will be explained to the owner at the next meeting. Middlebury Offers Up To $1,000 Reward For Information

Earlier this week, Middlebury’s Select Board has unanimously voted to offer a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for vandalizing the Cross Street Bridge. The town has already incurred a $7,000 expense to remove graffiti that appeared on the bridge late last year. For more information, you can view the official town minutes here.

Killington’s Public Pool To Be Repaired

After receiving quotes from a number of companies, Killington’s Recreation Commission has selected Patenaude Pool Plasterers, Inc., and Allen Pools & Spas to repair “significant cracks” that have developed in the Johnson Recreation Center’s public pool. The construction is expected to be completed by May and is estimated to cost $75,000. Click here to read the official town minutes.

Mud Season Hits Barnet And Other Vermont Towns

Road crews in Barnet have described the onset of early mud season in town and some of the issues it is presenting for them. They told the Select Board that the Highway Department has been working with soft roads, even in the early morning, that do not favor heavy equipment when applying gravel and attempting to repair roads.

Other Vermont towns, including Dummerston and Middlesex, have also reported particularly bad mud seasons this year. You can read Barnet’s official town minutes here.

Pittsford Discusses Park ‘N’ Ride Lot

Town officials in Pittsford are discussing possible locations for the construction of a Park ‘N’ Ride parking lot to offer commuters the option of carpooling to and from work. Various recommendations have been suggested to the Select Board, including a location near Route 7, a location near Pittsford Commons. Town officials are taking into account a number of factors including cost and security before making their decision. Read the minutes from Pittsford

Rockingham Bridge Updates

The Rockingham Select Board earlier this week discussed the current status of the Worrall and Bartonsville historic covered bridges. Town officials hope repairs on the Worrall Bridge will begin on Monday, and they expect the bridge to be open by mid-April. The Bartonsville temporary bridge is now functional and the town expects to have bridge specifications and bids out by the end of next month. They hope to have that bridge constructed and operational by late fall.
